In the Parks of West Bedford, Nova Scotia, Northwood Care looked to build a low-maintenance and sustainable long-term care facility for the local community. To increase the building’s energy-efficiency, reduce HVAC usage and a provide quieter living environment, the Bedford Campus chose Insulated Concrete Forms for the exterior wall construction.
The continuous insulation and thermal mass of ICF assemblies strengthens the structure while minimizing thermal transfer and sound carried through the walls.
Today, the Northwood Bedford campus is LEED-certified and offers 156-beds, a cafeteria, hair salon, community room and many other amenities for its residents. With the strength and longevity provided by Nudura ICFs, the residents and staff can prioritize recreation and rehabilitation, knowing that the safety and security of the structure is already taken care of.
