                    The goal of the Enermodal building, headquartered in Kitchener, Ontario, was to create a healthy work environment for its employees in a building that uses 80% less energy than any other office in the country.
Nudura’s Insulated Concrete Forms used for this structure provided superior insulation for healthy indoor air quality. Ventilation air is delivered separately from heating and cooling functions to ensure excellent indoor air quality without over- or under-heating.
The latest technology in heating and cooling was used: heat pumps that operate continuously at a low speed. Active daylighting, automated exterior shades, and motion sensors were other key aspects to the design.
During the construction process recycled materials were used, such as: stone, exterior steel cladding, carpet, concrete, and gypsum board from two demolished buildings in the region.
89% of site waste was diverted from the landfill to recycling facilities.
